Polymer Coatings Process Engineer

 

Position Summary:

TauTheta Instrument LLC seeks to fill the position of Polymer Coatings Process Engineer to support production, develop manufacturing processes, procedures and equipment for coating of thermoplastic and thermoset materials onto a variety of substrates.  This salaried full time position qualifies for health insurance, 401k and other benefits.  US Permanent Residency, Green Card, or Citizenship required.

 

The Process Engineer will manufacture and apply coatings onto a wide range of substrates. The position involves work with organic and inorganic pigments, polymers and binders.  The Process Engineer will be responsible for expanding production capabilities with further refinement and improvements of process coating parameters and curing schedules.  Other duties and responsibilities include mixing and preparing coatings, applying coatings to substrates, quality control and validation of products. The individual will also be required to analyze various coatings and/or and media samples, observe performance of coatings and give feedback using statistical methods and process data. The position will also support ongoing R&D projects including new sensor formulations.  The person will be expected to promote teamwork within the immediate work group and between different internal customers using manufacturing resources, communicate effectively with management, coworkers and suppliers.

 

Ideal candidates would be familiar with various polymer coating and formulation technologies, experience with diverse thick and thin-film coating, application and surface modification techniques. Ideal candidate would have experience in basic programming of Matlab or similar programs.  Experience with computer controlled automated equipment is desired. Applicants must be self-motivated, work well independently and in teams, and be career-oriented.

 

Core Competencies

  • Expertise with coating formulation, application methods, pre-treatment methods, thermoset and thermoplastic materials.
  • In-depth experience with pigment dispersion methods, equipment, and analysis.
  • Background in polymer chemistry and/or polymer engineering.
  • Writing and documenting complex subject matter.
  • Experience with optical sensors and fluorescence materials is a plus.

 

Education/Experience:

For candidates to be considered for the Polymer Coatings Process Engineer position they must have at least a BS in chemistry, materials science or engineering field, with industry, lab or research experience.
